A 30-year-old man, admitted to the C Ward of Civil Hospital for treatment of jaundice, jumped to his death from the second floor early on Saturday morning.Shahibaug police, suspect the man's prolonged illness is the probable cause for his suicide.
According to investigators, Sanjay Pattni, 30, a resident of Pattnivaas in Asarwa, was admitted to the hospital for over a fortnight due to advanced-stage jaundice.
A vegetable vendor, Pattni was admitted in hospital four times in the last six months which affected his work and family life.
“His brother and sister-inlaw were in the ward with him but when they were asleep at 6.45 am, Sanjay jumped from the ward and sustained head injuries which killed him at the spot,“ said a police investigator.
