Thrashed When 16-Yr-Old Returned Home After Four Days
A 16-year-old girl was beaten to death by her father in northwest Delhi's Rani Bagh after she went missing from her house for four days on Friday . The girl's family said this was not the first time that she had left without informing. The accused, Ram Bihari, told the police that he was frustrated as the girl, Renuka, went missing for the third time in the last two months. He said he only slapped her a couple of times, after which she collapsed and died. However, the injury marks on the body seemed otherwise.
Renuka went out without telling anyone on October 30 and didn't return until late at night, the family members told police. They kept trying to call her but got no response and later found her phone unreachable, they added. She returned home on November 2.
Bihari has been arrested and a case of murder has been registered against him at Rani Bagh police station. His wife, Geeta, filed a complaint claiming that she was present at the time of incident along with her four children.
Geeta said whenever Renuka went missing she protected her, but this time Bihari was uncontrollable and did not stop beating her once she returned. Geeta, a domestic help in Pitampura, told the police that Renuka came to the house where she was working on November 2 around 3pm. She took her home where Bihari, a rickshawpuller, took a laundry bat and hit Renuka on the head.
A call was made to the police control room after which a team rushed to the spot.Renuka was taken to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared her dead on arrival.
