Two actors killed in chopper stunt

Tippagondanahalli (Karnataka):

Two actors drowned while shooting for a Kannada movie after they jumped off a helicopter into the Tippagondanahalli reservoir near Bengaluru, on Monday afternoon. A motorboat stationed on the banks to pull the actors out of the water developed a last-minute snag and remained at the shore, resulting in the tragedy.Duniya Vijay , hero of the movie Maasti Gudi, who also made the jump with the other two, survived as he was rescued in the nick of time by a local who rushed to his help aboard a coracle. Search and rescue teams continued to search for the bodies of the two drowned actors late into the night.
Officials of the BWSSB (Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board), the custodian of the reservoir, said the film crew had violated the conditio nal approval; they had barred the crew from taking aerial shots and entering the water.
Approval had been granted for a day's shooting in areas around the backwaters. “The conditions laid out in the approval letter (dated November 4, 2016) state they are not supposed to shoot in the prohibited area, which applies to the reservoir's waters as well. Permission was not given to jump into the water and perform other stunts,“ an official said. The pilots were protesting a new duty rostering software which they said, left them fatigued, with minimal rest and long periods away from home. For years now, airline pilots in India have resorted to impromptu mass casual leave or sick leave to protest against airline management decisions.
