Hotel manager, two others held in gang rape case

New Delhi:

The manager of a hotel in Paharganj, in which a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by her boyfriend and six others two days ago, was arrested on Monday along with two other absconding accused.Police said the three youths arrested on the day of the incident had revealed the name of the manager, Vijay Kumar. He had been working at the hotel for 10 years and knew the boyfriend, Rehan. He told the police that Re han had approached him a few days ago and asked for a room for him and his friends. Rehan offered a handsome amount, Kumar said, and promised to help him financially in the future too.Kumar said he couldn't resist such a tempting offer as he was in dire need of money . And while he knew what was happening, he kept mum, he said.
Police also said that there was no register to keep track of the visitors. But they identified the men from CCTV footage from cameras in the area. Though there were allegations that cameras in the hotel had been switched off at the time of the incident, feed from elsewhere showed the men entering the hotel. This would be presented as evidence in court.
The survivor, who was sent to an NGO for counselling on Sunday , had alleged that Rehan and the others had locked her up in the room and offered her a drink laced with sedatives. She was then raped. Police said they were also scanning the cellphones of the accused to check if they had filmed the act.
Meanwhile, the girl's family said she had been acquainted with Rehan only a month and a half ago. But she had spurned his advances.
