Republic Day 2025 : President Drupadi Murmu hoists the national flag at Kartavya Path

Republic Day celebrations will begin with PM Modi leading the nation in paying tribute to martyrs at the War Memorial in New Delhi.


Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest of the ceremonial parade at the Kartavya Trail in New Delhi.

January 26th is particularly significant as it marks the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, which came into force on this historic day in 1950. President Droupadi Murmu, in his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, said the year was a time of comprehensive progress for the new republic.

President Subianto watches grand Republic Day parade in India
Indonesia's
President Prabowo Subianto watched India's 76th Republic Day celebrations at the majestic Kartaviya Street, joining a select group of world leaders who attended the country's biggest celebration in 70 years.

As
the chief guest of the ceremony, Subianto watched a spectacular military parade and cultural performances along with President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Federal Cabinet, foreign diplomats and many other dignitaries.

Indonesia's
first president, Sukarno, was the chief guest of India's first Republic Day celebrations in 1950.

    300 artists playing indigenous musical instrument herald at the parade

    In a display of diversity of the country, 300 cultural artists, dressed in colourful attire, heralded the parade on the Kartavya Path, marching to the tune of ‘Saare Jahan Se Acchha’.

    The 300 artists were playing musical instruments from different parts of the country.

    The melody emanating from the indigenous mix of instruments resonated the Kartavya Path as the contingent of artists marched down in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu and chief guest for the celebrations Indonesian President Prababowo Subianto appreciating the performance.
